What does it do?
Quickly create an interactive grid of all the kanji in your decks, colored based on how well you know them! Clicking on a kanji takes you to the Jisho dictionary.
Can also export as a simple PNG image or HTML file.
By default, this add-on has seven different sorting methods:
JLPT (Kanji in the official Japanese Proficiency exams, grouped by levels N5~N1) Jouyou (Standard kanji, grouped by grade level) Kanken (Grouped by levels of the Kanji Aptitude Test) Frequency (How often the kanji appear) Score (How well you know the kanji) Unicode (Index number) Order found (Where the kanji were found in your decks)
This add-on automatically creates a folder for each sorting option and then generates an interactive clickable kanji grid for each sorting option. Clicking “save image” and/or “save HTML” will automatically saves those grids in their respective folders.
The file name is “current time” in ISO-format, including year, month, day, hours, minutes, and seconds. This should make tracking your kanji learning progress easy over time, as it’s already sorted by time!
Based on this plugin.
TLDR: Automize tracking your kanji learning process!
How do I use it?
- Click on the menu item “Tools”. You should see two buttons:
“Generate Kanji Grid Automatic” “Kanji Grid Settings”
- If it’s your first time using this plugin, press “Kanji Grid Settings” and set the options to your liking.
Settings reset every time you close Anki. If you’d like them to be saved across sessions, follow the directions in the pop-up that appears after clicking “Save Settings”
- Navigate back to the menu item “Tools” and press “Generate Kanji Grid (Automatic)”
Now, sit back and watch the magic happen!
- If you want to check out the grid at a later time, use the “Save HTML” and “Save Image” buttons at the bottom of the generated window(s).
Generated HTML and PNG files will always be saved in their respective folders, which can be found in the directory you set in the “Kanji Grid Settings” window.
Changes & Modifications:
- Ported to version 2.1 by Joda (that’s me!)
- Switched to the qconnect module from aqt utils.
- Outdated functions were fixed (with additional imports).
- Some UI buttons were moved from settings to the generated grids (“Save Image” & “Save HTML”).
- Names added to generated grid windows to allow for easier navigation.
- The settings menu was also cleaned up to enhance readability.
- Rendering algorithms for HTML and PNG generation were optimized.
**I’m planning to add another option to generate (and save) a kanji grid of kanji not yet included in the users’ decks.
I’ve tested it on 2.1.54, but as far as I can see, it should also work on the newest version.

Pros:
- “Hey, i’ve seen this Kanji before”
- 1級 Kanji lezgooooo
Cons:
- The image doesn’t render
- All html output the same thing, which makes it useless for each category
- Why not make it for each deck, just like the original one did?
- The settings only applied for each session, so if you quit Anki the settings will also be reset
4/10 Overall still has alot of bugs that needs to be fixed ASAP

Exactly what I was looking for! Allows you to see what your stats will be once you finished your deck, while all other addons only show current progress.
