This extension creates an Anki deck from a collection of chess games in PGN format.
Quickstart
To study an opening repertoire do this:
Install the add-on. Create one or more studies on Lichess and export as PGN. Import it into Anki with Tools -> Chess Opening Trainer Study
PGNs imported for white should contain only white moves that you want to play and black moves that you want to be prepared against. For black do the same but with colours swapped.
Other Features Update Repertoire
You can edit the studies/PGN files and re-import them without losing any learning progress. A new card is only created if a new position for the selected colour is added. Otherwise, the existing card is updated only.
Board Diagrams
All notes contain a graphical board representation of the position in question on both sides of the notes.
You can also add comments, annotations like ”?” or ”??”, or lines, arrows, and circles. They are only displayed on the answer side of the card.
Variations
PGN files can contain multiple games and each game can be arbitrarily nested. The add-on uses all games and all variations and creates cards for them all.

Excellent add-on. I love the workflow of using lichess studies to create pgns for this as it makes the addition of new cards very easy and intuitive.

Great plugin but it’s a shame that positions of beginning of game such as e4e5 is to save. It would be better to save the whole line in a single note. Why not improve your plugins with this type of note ( https://github.com/TowelSniffer/Anki-Chess-2.0 ) that is absolutely amazing? The import of a study lichess allows you to simply create one line per note.

This could be a more general chess Anki tool than just Opening but I like it Comment from author before post was edited At the time of this writing, the add-on still has issues with PGNs that use a non-standard starting position. This should be fixed in version 2 which will come soon. Then you should be able to import arbitrary PGNs. But I think, I will still keep the name because for endgames there are better tools, and for the middle game, you have puzzles. So I think that the focus is still

Great and useful add-on, I was looking for something like this for ages!
There’s just a bug that I encountered (Anki 23.12.1), maybe it’s a conflict with other add-ons I don’t know, but the dialog window to import a PGN file has a huge width by default (it extends past my screen’s width), and when I attempt to resize it it seems to crash. I have to drag the window manually (without resizing it) to see the right end of the window and the button to import a file. I fixed this by adding self.setFi
