THE MIGAKU ANKI ADD-ON IS INTENDED FOR USERS OF MIGAKU, WHO USE ANKI AS THEIR SRS. IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR ANKI USERS WHO ARE NOT SUBSCRIBERS TO MIGAKU.
The Migaku Anki Add-on is a combination of all our previous addons and their features. But it is not only a combination, we also simplified the set up and usage of the add-on to make it more accessible.
In order to simplify the add-ons usage and setup, some functions were moved to the Migaku Browser Extension and are now handled from there. If you don’t have the Migaku Browser Extension installed, they will not work. Below, those features are marked as such. If you want to know more about the Migaku Browser Extension you can watch a summary of its most important features here.
General Features
Editor Features
In-place Editing Editing without having to open the separate editor window Persistent Editor Window Editor Window stays open and is automatically filled with the next card info while you review. Infos inthe editor window are hidden until the card is turned around. Retirement Features Set a retirement interval and control what happens to cards in each deck once they have reached that interval A user may choose to delete all of their retired cards, add tags to the cards, suspend the cards, move those cards to a “retirement deck,” or do any combination of those options. Vacation Features (will be implemented soon) Schedule vacations away from reviews Optimize and smooth daily review counts Taking a “Sick Day” and pushing all reviews one day into the future Catching up slowly on overdue reviews using the “Catch-Up” feature Studying cards that will be due in the future using the “Get-Ahead” feature Maintain card ease Flexible Grading Features Pass/Fail Reduces Ankis 4 buttons to 2, Pass and Fail. Maintain Ease Factor Upon failing a card, the ease factor of that card will remain the same. Dictionary Features (Migaku Browser Extension required) Look up words in multiple dictionaries at once. In Anki, as well as globally Add definitions, images, Forvo audio and example sentences to cards with one click Language Specific Features (Migaku Browser Extension required)

Play audio of all words by simply clicking on them Japanese Add pitch coloring to all words Automatically add readings Pitch graphes on hover Chinese Add tone coloring to all words Add Jyutping for Cantonese Add Pinyin or Zhuyin for Mandarin Convert all characters to the simplified or traditional variant German Add gender coloring to all words Show part of speech and the dictionary from of the word on hover (to be implemented) French Add gender coloring to all words Show part of speech and the dictionary from of the word on hover (to be implemented) Spanish Add gender coloring to all words Show part of speech and the dictionary from of the word on hover (to be implemented) Portuguese Add gender coloring to all words Show part of speech and the dictionary from of the word on hover (to be implemented)
How to install the Addon If you haven’t installed Anki yet, you can download it here.
After you are done installing Anki, open it. Next, navigate to |Tools|>|Add-ons|.
In the window that opens, press |Get Add-ons…|.
In the window that opens, enter the code at the end of this page and press |OK|.
After the installation is finished, restart Anki and you are done!

Crashes my Anki really badly. From other reviews, it seems like it’s been broken for months. Changed to Anki 25.07 for synergy with the add-on, but it still refuses to work. Please fix asap!

Works absolutely fine with newest Anki version. Not sure why so many people complained. Make sure you have both Migaku Browser Extension AND Anki open and it’ll say you’re connected. I started 2 days ago and already made over 100 Anki cards using this Add-on in single key presses. Its actually insane.
It does work, on both latest versions as of this review.

Bought Migaku, installed the browser extension, installed the add-on on Anki. It won’t say it’s connected while on the Anki app. Click on the link to “learn” how to install the web browser and the site just has a spinning dial. Waste of time and my patience.

I really do not understand all the shade toward Migaku. It is hands down the absolute best way on earth to learn Japanese or basically any language that it supports. The team on Discord are so incredibly wholesome and friendly and it’s quite clear that they really know what they are talking about when it comes to language acquisition. Pretty much everyone on their team has learned one or more languages to complete fluency using the same method that Migaku uses so it obviously works.

Hi I’m add-ons developer Shigeඞ! I recommend the Migaku add-on. Migaku is a paid add-on so it has many low ratings (of course everyone loves free). However Migaku’s add-ons have been popular with language learners for years because of their advanced and useful features, and Migaku developers have also done a lot of volunteer work on the official Anki in the past, so they make important contributions to the Anki free ecosystem. (this is the largest number of commits outside of the official Anki)

Works well with the anki extention. People writing ‘paywall’ don’t understand that this is not a free add on, but to be used in tandem with the Migaku chrome extention. The entire service is paid. If there is a trial period, go for it if you have considered it. There should also be plenty of youtubers affiliated with Migaku to give you an extra month or a trial week

This Migaku add-on is great for mining cards and saving me a lot of time. However, the main issue I’ve encountered is that I can’t change the note type, so I’m stuck with only the one provided by Migaku and unable to customize it. The app supports multiple languages for mining, but what’s the point if I can’t insert cards for another language because my notes are limited to a single note type? Now, my Anki is stuck with only one note type, and I can’t add cards for other languages. I’ve already
