> This is an addon which allows you to paste images as text using optical character recognition (OCR).
This add-on is a fixed version of the ” pasteOCR ” for Anki24+. How to use it, please refer to the original add-on. (If the original add-on has been updated to Anki 24+, this fork is not required.)

Notes :
⚠️ Works only on Windows. Mac and Linux will not work (see original add-on description) ⚠️ Does not work in non-English languages (see comments in original Add-on) ⚠️ May not work well if the background is not white A paste icon will be added to the editor.
Here is how you change or add multiple OCR languages properly:
Download the trained data for the languages you need, such as [jpn.traineddata] https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata Put the corresponding trained data to this folder of the addon: Path\to\Anki2\addons21\1808435406\deps\win\tesseract\tessdata Open this file with a text editor (such as Notepad++ on Windows): Path\to\Anki2\addons21\1808435406\pytesseract\pytesseract.py Edit Row 370, change the [lang=None] to the language you downloaded, and you can combine multiple OCR languages. For example, I am using the following: image, lang=‘jpn+eng’, config=”, nice=0, output_type=Output.STRING, timeout=0, Save the file, restart Anki, and you should be good to go.

[ 📥 How do I install this add-on? ] Copy and paste the add-on code ( 1808435406 ) into Anki and you can install it. ( Menu -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Add-ons -> Code [ add-on code ] ) When I develop bug fixes, create new features, or compatibility for New Anki, I will notify you and you can install it. This is great and thanks to Shige (again) for fixing another add-on that I use on daily basis.
Here is how you change or add multiple OCR languages properly:

Works amazing on Windows. Thank you very much this is very helpful!! * I know its only for english but I would love to see the software recognising “äöü” Comment from author Thanks for the feedback and requests! :-) Another OCR add-on supports other languages, so I think it is technically possible, so I will look into it next time.

Works great. Thanks for fixing it! I have a lot of multiple choice questions from my book and I can just paste them using this addon. The format is preserved! Amazing! Please keep it compatible :)

Doesnt work, I tried to update my Anki to the last version but didn’t resolve the issue. Comment from author Thanks for the feedback. At the moment, this Add-on only works on Windows, so I will look into it later.
