Adapted for Anki 2.1 from Vitalie Spinu’s Anki 2.0 add-on
Binds ‘j’, ‘h’, ‘k’, ‘l’ to answer buttons. This allows the right hand to rest on the middle line of the keyboard. The rationale behind the choice of shortcuts is the following: fail / normal are the most common buttons (j, k) hard is fairly rare (in my usage) so it can be a bit out of the way in ‘h’ and easy is simply to the right of normal, ‘l’. The original’s add-on jkl; wasn’t to my taste. As a bonus ‘z’ is bound to undo.
Additionally, you can answer normal/easy on a failed card and it will do the right thing. You can also answer a card while in question state (which is convenient if you review tons of cards and need speed).

edit: suddenly it doesn’t work in question state. I have to reveal the answer first.
edit2: looks like the Lapse Lapse Revolution addon prevents it in question state.

Thank you for this addon. Like its predecessor, this addon make it very easy to set more than one hotkey (one for each hand) for the same shortcut, by editing the source.
Would it be possible to make the period and comma keys work as hotkeys? They don’t work at the moment, although they worked in the old “Handy

This is a great add on. One thing to note is that it’s super easy, even with 0 knowledge of code, to change what keys you want to do what. Just go into the source code for the add-on and you can easily see which keys are mapped to what card action, and change them. I like changing them to 9 0 - = (for again, hard, good, and easy, respectively) to mirror the left side.

The README should have made it clear that ‘j’, ‘k’ mean the first and third answer, instead of saying they are for fail/normal cases. When learning new cards, the third answer is ‘easy’ instead of ‘good’, thus pressing ‘k’ should mean answering ‘easy’, which is NOT normal case. I only realized this after I have wrongly answered THOUSANDS of cards!!

It works.

Perfect. When smashign through hundreds of reviews I find resting with my right hand on the keyboard a lot less RSI inducing :P
