Sometimes I find myself automatically skipping through cards without fully articulating an answer. But “type to answer” cards don’t work for my usecase: I study a lot of STEM subjects where a verbatim answer is not helpful or LaTeX would be required.
This add-on places a text area in Anki’s reviewer bottom bar and blocks the Show Answer action until you type something into the box. The text you enter is not checked against the card’s answer; it simply acts as a commitment mechanism before you self-grade. It does not require custom card templates.

I also often found myself in the same situation that the author raised. I glide through the cards too fast without articulating or even giving myself the benefit of the doubt when I kind of get the answer but did not put in the mental work to spell it out (using both for med school 500+ cards and language learning). I always thought this feature should be given in the default Anki, so I am glad someone is working on the solution.
But still, I have an additional feature request. I would love it
