anki-jmdict
Anki-jmdict integrates the JMdict Japanese dictionary directly into Anki. The add-on keeps a local copy of the dictionary up to date and lets you create or enrich notes from JMdict entries. Use it to quickly add Japanese vocabulary with accurate meanings and identifiers drawn from the official JMdict project.
Configuration
Open the configuration dialog for the add-on to adjust the following options:
target_language – When generating notes, use glosses in this language first. If an entry lacks glosses in the chosen language, English is used. Values are JMdict language codes such as eng (English) or ger (German). Defaults to eng. note_type – Name of the note type used for newly generated notes. If left blank, the first note type containing the required fields is selected automatically. field_expression, field_meaning, field_jmdict_id – Names of the fields that store the expression, meaning and JMdict ID. Defaults are Expression, Meaning and JMdict ID respectively. Usage
The add-on adds the following actions to Anki’s menus:
Tools → Update JMdict database – Download the latest JMdict file. Run this after installation and occasionally to refresh the dictionary. Tools → Bulk‑generate notes from JMdict IDs… – Paste a list of JMdict IDs and the add-on creates new notes in the current deck. Tools → Bulk‑add JMdict IDs… – Scan existing notes and fill in their JMdict ID field.
