📦 Requirements
• Anki 2.1.50 or later
• Google Gemini API key (Get free here)
• For MCQ: True Anki MCQ Note Type (Recommended)
• For Cloze/Basic: Works with Anki’s built-in note types.
🚀 Quick Start
- Get Your API Key
• Visit Google AI Studio.
• Create a free API key (starts with AIzaSy…).
- Initial Setup
• Open Anki. The Welcome Wizard will appear.
• Paste your API Key.
• (Optional) Download and install the MCQ Note Type if you plan to use MCQs.
- Start Importing
• Click ⚡ MCQ Importer → Import Images…
• Select your images (screenshots, slides, etc.).
• Choose your Root Deck (e.g., “Medical::Pharmacology”).
• Watch the AI generate your cards!
⚙️ Customization & Profiles
Go to Settings to access the powerful new Profile engine:
- Active Profile
Choose which logic the importer uses. Switch between “MCQ”, “Cloze”, or “Basic” instantly.
- Prompt Editor
Don’t like how the AI phrases questions?
• Select a profile.
• Edit the Prompt Text directly in the settings window.
• Your changes are saved forever (even if you update the addon).
• Use the “New Blank Profile” button to write a prompt from scratch.
- Field Mapping
Using a custom card template? No problem.
• Select your Note Type.
• Map the AI slots (e.g., Question, Rationale, Image) to your card’s fields (e.g., Text, Extra, Notes).
💡 How It Works
<b>Input:</b> You provide sequential images (Slide 1, Slide 2…).
<b>Contextual Analysis:</b> Gemini analyzes the current image <i>and</i> the previous image to understand the full context.
<b>Generation:</b>
• <b>MCQ Mode:</b> Creates stems, correct answers, plausible distractors, and explanations.
• <b>Cloze Mode:</b> Extracts facts and creates {{c1::}} deletions.
• <b>Basic Mode:</b> Creates Q&A pairs.
<b>Output:</b> Cards are organized into subdecks (e.g., Deck::Topic) with the source image embedded in the “Extra” field.

🔧 Troubleshooting
“API Key not configured”
Go to Settings and ensure your key is valid and has no extra spaces.
“Model not found”
In Settings, click “Refresh Available Models” to sync with Google’s latest model list (Gemini 3.0/2.5).
“Prompt Reset”
If you messed up a built-in profile, use the ”↩ Reset to Built-in Default” button in Settings to restore the original prompt.
🔒 Privacy & Security
• Images are sent to Google’s Gemini API solely for processing.
• No data is permanently stored by this addon.
• API keys are stored locally in your Anki configuration.
