When using a bluetooth headset, you may experience a lag at the start of a song (especially at the start of the audio of anki cards). This is due to the fact that headset are in sleep mode when they do not receive any song from the computer, and when they receive a song they take almost one second to wake up and play the song (which correspond to 1 or 2 word in Anki card).
This addon simply plays continuously a silent song to keep the headset connected and avoid this lag.
It works with mpv or mplayer lib (exactly like Anki) so if Anki audio works, this addon should work.

This works! you have to edit the init.py script and replace if isWin with either if False or if True, depending if you are on windows or not. I am on linux so i changed it to if False: the script was in ~/.local/share/Anki2/addons21/880422015/ just search your hard drive for the script number to find it.

Guys, don’t even think of trying this addon. It broke my anki audio even after deleting the addon. Now audio are cutting off even with my normal headphone and I have to press R to replay audio every time now.

This addon does not appear to be working at the moment, but it is indeed a serious issue. To get around it you can leave a media player on in the background looping something muted while using anki, and this bluetooth problem will be fixed. Anki version 2.1.22

Doesn’t work for me at all. In fact, no audio will play when using this add on. I’m running Anki Version 2.1.35.

Doesn’t work for me. I have exactly the mentioned problem above, but the Add-on doesn’t fix it for me. Instead of the lag, there is currently no sound available. Any suggestions?

Splendid addon, I was looking for addons to play ambient sounds and found this. If you’re interested, it would be fantastic to develop an Anki addon that could play random background audio (such as rain, campfire, wind, etc.) while Anki is running. It would be a mesmerizing experience.
