This add-on automatically generates proper furigana for new Anki cards before adding them. It trims and positions parts of pre-existing reading and word fields that can be configured.
Why?
Because redundant kana in furigana suck, and dictionaries generally only provide the entire reading and not the formatted furigana.
Examples
AnkiWeb does not support ruby display, so you will have to visit the Codeberg source page of this project for examples.
Usage Notes Your note type must have the following fields (or equivalent) A reading field (plain text that contains the reading, e.g.: 「およぐ」) A word field (plain text that contains the word that needs furigana, e.g.: 「泳ぐ」) (optionally) an expression field that contains the output of the add-on. You can, however, overwrite one of the first 2 fields if you want. You need to configure the add-on’s target fields / deck Install the add-on Go to Tools → Add-ons Select Furigana Builder → Config Specify the target fields and deck
If the kanji field is the same as the reading — as is the case for every kana-only word — the add-on will simply output it. E.g.:
Reading: およぐ Word: およぐ Output: およぐ
