This used to be a premium beta add-on for use by AnKing VIP members only.
Google Doc Decks is an addon that permits the user to create a Google Doc from which Anki cards are automatically created and synced to your Anki applications. The user can place potential Anki card content into the Google Doc in a specific format and this Google Doc Deck addon remotely communicates the changes on your Google Doc to your Anki program so that any new cards written or changes made to prior content on the Google Doc are reflected in your Anki decks. This is perfect for people who find the user interface of Anki cumbersome and those who would like to record information/create Anki cards at any time from any device without having to pull up the Anki app.
In short, this anki add-on allows users to create Anki decks in Google Docs that can then be synced with Anki. The remote deck acts as the reference point or the source of truth. When a user syncs, cards are added / updated / deleted in the local deck. When cards are updated in the Google Doc (excluding the primary field), their history is preserved.

Why was this add-on previouslyonly available to AnKing VIPs? This add-on was paid for using money that is earned on our AnKing Membership. We create add-ons using this income, release them for Members only first, and eventually release them to the public. Creating and maintaining add-ons is very time-intensive and expensive, so we have to fund this somehow. We employ some fantastic software engineers in the community to help us create tools that are useful to everyone. If you have ideas for new add-ons that would be useful or fun, please feel free to let us know!
What other add-ons and perks are available to AnKing VIPs? We have made a running list of all current beta add-ons on this website. Other perks of being a member include individualized help with Anki, early release YouTube videos, live Q&As, etc. These are listed under the tiers on the VIP Sign-up page.
Why do we put some beta addons on AnkiWeb early/before their released publicly? Because we plan to release these add-ons to the public eventually, we create an add-on listing in order to get an add-on code. This makes it so that the add-on our VIPs download will continue to get updated once it is released to the public (vs needing to delete the early release add-on and redownload the public one)
What other add-ons have we funded? Other add-ons we’ve released and/or are currently maintaining using income from this project include: Advanced Card Styles, AnKing Note Types (Easy Customization), Browser Resizer, Clickable Tags, Custom Background Image and Gear Icon, Export Single Tag for Sharing, Fastbar, Field Autocomplete, ReColor, Special Fields, and more!

It seems like the addon is broken. Decks are created, but no cards are added to them.
In a completely fresh installation of Anki, Cards appear in the “Default” deck instead of the newly created deck.
I would love to see this fixed.

Excellent work. Where can I find the github page / source code on this add-on. I’d like to add some things. I can only find the original source code for anki-remote-decks. Thank you.

There is a problem: From de Pusblished Google Doc to Anki (when you clic on Sync remote decks) the cards are not created… :(
Edit: I think now it works, but images are not imported to Anki (the image sprite is shown, but not the image). Comment from author before post was edited We updated the instructions based on some reports on Github. Please try the new instructions (make sure the google doc cards are formatted in tables). If that’s not working, please let us know on Github and we’ll fix
