This add-on is a customized version of the discontinued add-on “Review Lookup”. The original Review Lookup code was developed by fonol (prollo, 2022) and credit goes to them, and the idea of Review Lookup was inspired by Glutanimate (Aristotelis P.), Pop-up Dictionary.
The original Review Lookup was not broken and did not need to be repaired but it is no longer available for download because it was discontinued (add-on code 1745211643) so I re-uploaded and customized the add-on (GNU Affero General Public License). This customized version has enhanced user interface, added options, and optimized calculations.
📖How to use
Select text in the reviewer and right-click to search and the results will pop up. You can also search for text in the tooltip.
Option
The options can be accessed from the gear icon in the tooltip or add-ons tools.
Quick Search Quickly search for text by selecting it, no right-click required. Highligt Enable or disable highlighting. Blur nested tooltips. Enable or disable blur when there are multiple tooltips. Max lenght of search text ignore if text is too long. Max Results limit the number of search results. Font size Change font size. If set to 0, it changes automatically. Reset Zoom and Size
Changes to options will not take effect during the review, so you need to finish the review. (Reviewer -> Decks (Home) -> Reviewer)
Include Decks
You can specify which decks to include or exclude from the search. If the search is slow, try reducing the number of too large decks. You can change the checks in bulk by right-clicking.
You need to specify the exact deck that contains the cards, excluding only the parent deck will not exclude cards in the child decks.
Note
Search may not work well for some languages. (e.g. Japanese, Chinese) If you want to add support for new languages please send me a request.

📥 How do I install this add-on? Copy and paste the add-on code ( 364219370 ) into Anki and you can install it. Good, just wanted you to add the options lookup just by hovering, it will be even more convenient. Comment from author thanks for the feedback! if you enable the optional quick search it will automatically pop up when you select text. hover only might be possible but I think the search might be a bit too frequent.

What I would like is to have the same option for review lookup in Add, Browse, and Edit Current. If I make a new card it doesn’t show up in the review lookup until I reopen Anki. Comment from author before post was edited hi thanks for the feedback! that’s a good idea, I’ll look into it.

Thanks for this! It would be great if you can add these features:
- Keyboard shortcuts instead of right clicking and choose Review Lookup. I know there is Quick Search but sometimes I don’t want the panel to show up when highlighting :-)

Hello, thank you very much for your add-on — it has made my medical studies much easier. However, I truly hope there will be more updates in the future. During my usage, I’ve found that the add-on works very well when highlighting a single word. But when I highlight a phrase like “ABC XYZ”, I would expect it to search for notes that contain the exact phrase “ABC XYZ”. Instead, the add-on searches for each individual word — “ABC” and “XYZ” — and returns an overwhelming number of results. I sincer
