Github AnkiBuddy is a study companion add-on to Anki for custom practice with alternative formats. It is not meant to replace your daily reviews, it does extra supplemental practice outside of the schedule. With this add-on, you can practice with lists, and you can also quiz yourself with multiple choice, matching, and written questions. Most of the features are customizable, you can set up your own question templates, choose from cards you have already learned, divide the cards into smaller groups, etc.
This is the first release so pardon any bugs. You can help out by making a post on the support thread, or in the issue tracker. I hope you find it useful!
Basic Usage Once the add-on is installed, you can click on the Deck and there will be an extra button, “Study Buddy” on the bottom bar. Clicking it will take you to the questions wizard:
Here you create new question templates with “New…” to set up the practice mode. Then, when you are ready, you can click “OK” to start practicing.
You can also change the Subset on the right panel from “All” to another option, such as Learned to choose which subset cards you are going to study with. The All Groups checkbox means you will study all of those cards, or if you uncheck it you can break down the subset into smaller groups at a time. You can change how many cards are in a group in the Options.
To view a list of cards, you must first set-up the columns in the Options menu. You have to choose at least one column to display from your deck’s model. Then, you can use the List button. You can double-click on anything in the List view to view the card that it came from.

Great addon, but it doesn’t work in 23.12.1 because of Qt6.
I’ve made a PR on the github repo to resolve this issue. After making these changes, I’m able to use the addon again.
There is an “error” when editing the type of a card between matching, fill in the blank, and multiple choice, but that error can be ignored and it seems to work just fine.
I may or may not have missed some things that should also be changed, I don’t know, all I know is that I’ve fixed all the errors I’ve encountered a

This add-on is amazing. But some how it doesn’t work on my Anki. Please help me.

Great concept! Anki is good for retention but the flashcard format could be a bit tedious, and this companion is what I missed when I moved from Quizlet to Anki! I modified the script for my English/Chinese cards on mac 2.1.65, and it worked great!
