Use Cases Taking a break from a specific deck without ruining your review schedule Focusing on one deck while keeping others on hold Going on vacation but only for certain subjects How It Works
Pause: Right-click the gear icon next to a deck → “Pause Deck”. A timestamp is saved and an orange ⏸ badge appears next to the deck name.
Unpause: Gear icon → “Unpause Deck”. A confirmation dialog shows the pause duration. All cards in the deck (including sub-decks) have their due dates shifted forward:
Review cards — shifted by days Learning/relearning cards — shifted by seconds New cards — untouched (position-based, not time-based) Filtered decks — both due and odue are adjusted
The operation runs in the background with a progress bar.
Features Per-deck pausing (not whole collection) Visual indicator (orange badge) in the deck browser Conflict prevention: cannot pause a deck if its parent or child is already paused Tools → “Manage Paused Decks…” dialog to see all paused decks at a glance Studying while paused is allowed (with a warning in the menu) Handles deck renames, suspended/buried cards, filtered decks Sync-safe: uses col.update_card() API Recommended
Create a backup before unpausing, especially for large decks.
