you should also have a look at the more popular add-on Slackers’ Delight (Postpone/Defer Button). This uses a different approach and is created by lovac42 who has made many great add-ons.
Don’t use this add-on if you sync with ankiweb, use Slacker’s Delight
this add-on adds two options to Anki:
- a shortcut (configurable) during reviews: This shortcut triggers a combined action: The current card is buried and the card is saved in a temporary list (that’s discarded when you close Anki).
- a shortcut (configurable) that you can trigger during reviews or from the deck overview which in effect unburies cards that are in the temporary list.
An add-on with a similar idea named later not now exists. But this add-on only calls the function reviewer.nextCard(). The card might come back real quick.

This addon is a delight! Not buggy, very easy to use AND customizable! You can not only configure the bury and unbury hot key but even the message that pops up! It buries cards without a hitch!
INSIDE THE ANKI MENU NO LESS! Most addons can learn a lot about how to structure their menus from this one(right Japanese support?).

Slacker’s delight did not work with filtered decks and the not now later addon would delay cards for only a few minutes. This did just what I wanted, thanks!
